BIOL., DÉMOGR. Rapport numérique des sexes masculin et féminin, mâle et femelle dans une population humaine ou animale (à une certaine étape de leur évolution). Ville d'immigration (...); la sex-ratio y est déséquilibrée: 832 femmes pour 1 000 hommes (Géogr. région., t. 2, 1979, p. 195 [Encyclop. de la Pléiade]). Des médecins (...) ont montré (...) que, de 1980 à 1982, les bouchers et découpeurs de viande ont eu 121 garçons pour 100 filles, sur un total de 1.220 naissances (...). Ce n'est pas la première fois qu'un tel lien entre la profession parentale et le sex ratio est évoqué (L'Est Républicain, 24 mars 1987, p. 120, col. 6).
